It’s never easy to start over but sometimes that the way you make your dreams come true. After some debate, my husband and I decided to start our homestead all over with only birds we want to breed. We are in the process of selling off all the birds that we no longer want to breed.
We are selling all our yardbirds now, I already ordered our replacements. I’ve become infatuated with Bielefelders. They have beautiful coloring and the biggest plus is they are auto-sexing! Auto-sexing means we can tell a male from a female right after hatch. Being able to auto-sex them will make my life a little easier, I hate vent sexing birds! I only vent sex birds if I absolutely have to.
My birds for breeding will only be exotic breeds that I am in love with. I will continue to breed Ayam Cemani but improving the stock. Trying to get the perfect Cemani.
We have hatching eggs order and some we bought already in the incubator. We are going to be breeding Svart Hona, more Ayam Cemani, Golden Deathlayer, Bielefelder, peacocks, and Araucana. Right now I think that’s all we are breeding at this moment.
Starting over seems a little scary right now but we really want to make our dream into reality.
For 3 weeks now we have got hatching eggs in the mail. I can’t wait until they start hatching! Last week, we got Araucana eggs in the mail. I was so disappointed, we got 45 eggs, and 6 were broke. The yokes and air sacs were badly beaten up. They are in the incubator but I don’t have much hope for them. I guess we will find out in a couple weeks if any hatch.
The last few weeks have definitely kept us on our toes. We will see what the future holds. I hope y’all have an amazing weekend!!
