Busy Weekend

It’s been a crazy weekend on the homestead. Putting on a new roof, moving birds and getting new turkeys!

Everything started Friday with auction day. My amazing husband bought me a pair of Golden Death Layers! I’m a sucker for beautiful chickens. My brother Donnie and nephew Jaelen got in late Friday night to help us put our new roof on. I’m so grateful to have family that will help in times of need. I couldn’t imagine my life without my family!

We started putting the roof on Saturday morning and completed it around 5 pm. My family is a team, we work well together, of course there was a lot of mouthing off and teasing each other (that’s what we do best). They had a 7 hour drive home and left right after the roof was done. Thank you Donnie and Jae I love you both beyond words could ever describe!!

Sunday started with chores like every day does. We moved birds around and got them all happy. I can officially say I have no more birds in my house! Lol

We made an hour trip to get turkeys. Now we are on our way home. Did we need more turkeys? No, but we wanted them. We are just adding to our homestead and making the life we want, not what society tells us we have to do.

I’m going to end this by saying do what makes you happy and screw what everyone thinks/says. Hope y’all had a great weekend and Happy Independence Day!!
